long time no post

so this is about the time i get it together~ only fitting that we are taking the summer months off and here i am posting.  not to worry! we will be back in september with a jane austen of your choosing.  should be delightful.  to play a little catch up, here are some books we have covered…1.  The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.  loved because it's true and her story needed to be told.  She is a science hero.  2.  Paris in Love.  also true, not a serious, a snippet in the life of a family that moves to paris.  the daughter is the funniest part.  3.  All Creatures Great and Small.  another  true story, but this is based on the life of a vet.  he is just out of school and new to the life of a country vet.  very fun and entertaining.  4. And Both Were Young.  which we decided to rename to secret in the alps, because everyone seemed to be keeping a secret.  yes, they were in the alps.  i liked this light hearted tale.  hard to believe it was once considered scandalous and by scandalous i mean not at all.  5. Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker.  it is another try-ish story about the dress maker of Mrs. Lincoln.  her name is Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley.  she was a famous dressmaker and friend to Mrs. Lincoln, but had a falling out when Elizabeth printed a book about her experiences and times with the Lincolns.  some of the dialog is questionable, however still a good read.  these books are in not in the order in which we read them, but we did get to them.  and we even saw the play shadowlands~ which by the way was truly amazing.  loved it!  thank you to all you book lovers out there and to our awesome little nook.  until then, happy reading!!
